10 Things I Can't Travel Without

Happy Friday!  And thank goodness it is!  If you've followed along on Insta, you know it's been a hectic and rough week/few weeks for me and my family.  I'm so excited for August though, and the new chapter that the fall will open.  I'm especially excited about the mini vacation R & I are taking this month, as well as more time to work on the blog and some events & trips I'm planning!

Speaking of trips, I've been living out of a suitcase for most of the summer and will continue to be doing so pretty much until Fashion Week is over in September, so I thought I'd share with you some of my 'must-haves' when it comes to traveling!  These are not your typical travel list items, like shampoo and underwear.  These are things that usually/always aren't on those lists, but I feel are necessary to have when I travel for me to feel comfortable and put-together!

Good Jeans

So you'll definitely be able to tell from the top few things on my list that comfort and versatility is a must!  I love jeans so much.  I'm pretty sure I could live in them for the rest of my days.  But they're especially important for me when traveling!  They're so easy to dress up or down, and if you invest in a high quality pair, they will be more than comfortable after a few wears!  I always throw a blue pair and a black pair in my suitcase when traveling, and it helps me feel like I have endless outfit options!  The amazing pair I'm wearing in this post with super cool hems is part of the Nordstrom Sale (and are over $60 off!), which ends in just a few days, so snag them now!  There are also so many other great styles on sale here!

Soft Tees

Again, a versatile and comfortable must-have that can easily be dressed up or down!   I always pack at least two!  Whether wearing one while in a car or plane, or over PJs in a hotel, I never regret having a few to wear whenever I need to feel cozy and comfy!  I bought a few of this particular long-sleeve tee and don't regret it one bit!  It's one of the softest things I've ever owned and is so flattering and comfy!  It's part of the Nordstrom sale and there are still a few left, as well as some other great tees still available here!

Leather Jacket

Layers are always a must have for me!  I always bring two things to throw on top of whatever I'm wearing...  The first is a leather jacket.  You never know when it's going to get cold at night or rain, and its always good have a waterproof layer to throw on!  Also, leather jackets are so great for pulling an outfit together & adding that extra bit of edge to a look!  I am in love with the color olive and was so excited when I saw this one part of the Nordstrom sale!  It's so beautiful and comfortable, and so-well priced!  There are also some other great ones on sale if you need a different size or color here!

Cardigan

The second layer I always like to bring is a cardigan.  Even in summer!  People tend to get a little over-zealous with the AC in buildings and on public transit, and you never know when a summer evening might get cool and breezy.  A cardigan is a perfect layer for wearing inside, and is also great for bunching up and using as a pillow if you forget to bring one!  I love this one that I found,  as you probably guessed, at the Nordstrom sale!  It's soft, minimal, and comfy, and was a great prize!  There are still some sizes and colors available, and there are some other great sweaters part of the sale here!

Flats & Heels

If you're going to bring versatile clothes, you definitely need things to be able to dress them up or down with!  Making sure to have both flats and heels on hand ensures you can quickly and comfortably get around without killing your feet, while also being prepared for any dressier occasions that might come up!  I love these studded sandals I scored at the Nordstrom Sale recently!  They come in black as well and are just so gorgeous with all of the studded details!

Hand Sanitizer/Cleaning Wipes

I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten to bring hand sanitizer on a trip and regretted it!  Snacks are obviously a necessity while traveling, but after everything you touch in an airport or just in a city throughout the day, you don't want to be eating with germ or grub covered hands.  I don't even like to have my hands feeling grubby outside of eating!  Cleaning wipes are also a must-have for me, which I actually would have made a separate point, but I carry around Birdie with me, which allows me to have both a hand sanitizer and wipes in one package!  If you missed my last post about Birdie, he is a minimal, sleek 2-in-1 hand sanitizer with a formula made from high quality ingredients, like essential oils, and contains 10 textured dry wipes stored in the bottom.  He is compact & easy to carry around, I couldn't imagine a more convenient way of making sure I have both of those things on me!

Lip Balm

Lip balm is yet another essential I use all the time while traveling!  And even when not traveling.  Personally, I tend to not hydrate enough when I'm on the go.  And flying multiplies the not-so-great results of that!  Crusty lips are so gross and uncomfortable, and a little lip balm goes a long way at keeping your lips looking good!  I love the Lip Silk lip balm by Winky Lux, as it keeps my lips so smooth and hydrated, as do all of the lipsticks in their Creamy Dreamies line.  But what makes it even better is the amazing packaging!  It looks and applies like lipstick and is in a cute rose gold tube!

Candle Tin

I'm slightly candle-obsessed, if you guys didn't know yet!  Putting on a candle never ceases to help me relax, destress, and feel at home, even while away.  I always take a little candle with a lid  on my trips and it makes me so happy!  I love Voluspa candles, partly because their scents are amazing, but also partly because they make these cute little travel tins!  I snagged the smallest size at the Nordstrom sale, but some of the medium size are still left in a 3-pack, which is such a great deal for how long the candles last and what they normally cost individually!

Passport Case

When I first bought this, it was purely for looks.  I love accessories and beautiful packaging, as you guys know, and a cute passport case seemed like a fun way to celebrate a trip I was looking forward to!  Since then, I've come to love to for other reasons!  I have come to use it to keep my papers/tickets organized and in one place, making them very easy to access during the mayhem that can be going through an airport!  It's easy to slide tickets into the little sleeves on the side, and to just tuck all the other papers into the pages of it.  Then I know all I have to do is grab my passport case to have everything I need when boarding or making my way through the airport!

Plenty of Charging Supplies

Having your phone die when your traveling and far from home is just a baaaad situation to be in. You're likely using the GPS to get everywhere and the camera to shoot and record everything, which drains it faster than normal, so having backup is so essential to making sure you don't end up with a dead phone on your hands!  I always pack an extra cable and plug, as well as a battery pack or two!  Better to be safe than sorry when incomes to your phone, for sure!

What items are on your must-have list when traveling?
