Winter Style — Top 5 Coats You Need in Your Closet

Winter Blush and Black Look

Happy Fri-yayyyyy!

Since it's that time of year where going out without some kind of coat on is near impossible, rounded up the top 5 coats you need in your closet to get you through March staying warm and stylish!  Luckily for you, most of them, especially the heavier ones, are on sale!

1) Tailored Longer Coat

A tailored coat is at the top of my list for winter wear!  Weather it's a gorgeous designer coat you're investing in, or a slightly more casual and less expensive option, you want a coat that has clean lines and not much going on to keep you looking effortlessly chic no matter what you wear it over.  Tailored coats look best when they're a bit longer in length, coming down to at least mid-thigh, if not knee-length.

2) Leather Jacket

How I went so long without owning a leather jacket is beyond me!!  They are such wardrobe staples!  And work for basically 3 out of the 4 season of the year, as you can easily wear them along for none layer, or bundle them over a turtleneck, and under a scarf and even another jacket for extra warmth!

3) Utility Coat

I first saw one of these a few weeks back on one of my favorite bloggers, Andee Layne, and fell in love! It's such a cute casual coat that's great for those days when it's not cold enough to need a heavy coat, but not warm enough to go coatless!  Plus, most have a hood, so it's exactly what you need for those mid-temp days when it's also raining and a leather jacket just doesn't work.  It's also a coat that works well for fall and spring temps!  I found a really cute (and affordable!! just $34.90!) version on Forever 21's website, and I can't decide if I should get it in olive or black; they're both just so cute!

4) Puffer Coat with a (faux) Fur-Lined Hood

These are perfect for days when you're going to be outside for extended periods of time, especially in the snow!  They're so warm, and the ones with the fur-lined hoods are just so darling!!  They're exactly what I want to wear when I'm going skiing!

5) Faux Fur Coat

This is not a coat I currently own, but it's one that I'm wanting to pick up soon!  I'm not a fan of wearing real fur, but am all for the faux fur coat trend!  It's so cute, and while fur coats have been super popular this year, they've been a winter staple for many, many years.  They're so classy, luxe and sophisticated, even if the current obsession wth them dies down, they're still never go out of style!  Plus, they're incredibly warm!
