Current Favorite Skin Care Products
Kate Somerville, Skin Care Favorites
Happy Monday! I must admit, I was not ready for the weekend to end, or for the weather to drop back down to normal winter temperatures! Anyone else planning on treating themselves to an extra cup of coffee?? ;)
Since I recently shared some of my top skin care tips with you all, and the last one was using great products, yet I only shared one of those so far, I thought it was about time that I shared the rest of my current favorite skin care products! Let's get started...
This is definitely one of my favorite products I've used on my skin! When I first used it, it did sting my face for about a minute after it was applied. After about two days though, the stinging/tingling stopped, and I started to see a great difference in my skin! My skin looked brighter, and the tone looked much more even! It also helped with my acne, as the lactic acid also exfoliates your skin! (I know, that sounds weird! typically think of exfoliators as scrubs! But it exfoliates and gets rid of dead skin cells, which along with bacteria can clog pores and cause acne.) When I use it consistently, I notice that I break out less, and my acne scars fade. This product is pricey, however I keep purchasing it because it helps my skin so much!
I've only had the chance to try a sample size pot/jar of this, but I loved it! I was quite upset when I went to order the full-size version and saw that it was out of stock on Sephora's website! (which confirmed in my mind what a great product it was!) Luckily it was finally restocked! I used to live in fear of oil, since I had very oily and acne prone skin for most of my life. Now that my skin and hormones have balanced out a good bit, my skin isn't that oily, but I still do break out more than I like. However, I've recently learned that oil is not the enemy for acne-prone skin. In fact, the right oils, used the right way, can help with acne! I've tried and loved oil-cleansing (need to post about this soon...), I use a certain type of oil on my eyebrows and eyelashes every night (another post I need to write...), and I've also come to love using an oil on my skin at night. I'll be righting a post going more in depth about how to know which oils to use on your skin to balance its oil production, unclog pores, and keep your skin looking young and hydrated, but for now, know that this one ticks all of those boxes for me, which is why it's my favorite!
3) Mederma
When my favorite products still can't tackle some acne scars, I go to Mederma. It really does work! It just takes time and consistent application.
4) Kate Somerville Wrinkle Warrior
This was a product I received as a gift two weeks ago, and I've really enjoyed trying it! I've noticed my skin feels very hydrated and smooth after using it. It's also helped with wrinkles, as the name would suggest! I don't have a lot of wrinkles, and most of the anti-aging products I use, I use more for preventative measures, but I do have one on my forehead and a few small ones under my eyes. I have seen noticeable improvement on the wrinkles I have after using this and the next product I'll be talking about. But just to be sure, I also had my mom try it. She used it on just one of her eyes for a week, to make it easier to compare and see if there actually was an improvement. She also really liked it and had noticeable results after using it for a week! The only downside, like most of the products I love, is the price. But I think skin care is one of those things where you do get what you pay for! And my skin is something I feel is worth investing in!
5) Kate Somerville DermalQuench + Retinol Advanced Resurfacing Treatment
I received this as a gift from Kate Somerville as well, along with a Retinol Eye cream, and was also excited to try these products out. I honestly didn't notice much improvement from the eye cream. It helped some, but not enough to justify the price in my opinion (which is sad, since that is where the majority of the few wrinkles I have are). But I did like this resurfacing treatment enough to list it as a skincare favorite! As I said, I don't really have wrinkles except for under my eyes, which is not where this is supposed to be used. However, from having acne, blackheads, and oily skin, I have much lager pores than I would like. I've notices my pores shrink and tighten up while using this product over the last two weeks! I was actually on the hunt for a product to do just that, so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the results I was looking for from this product without having to buy or use anything else! I also noticed a bit more of an improvement on my skin tone and brightness from using this after using the Sunday Riley Good Genes Treatment. The application is a bit weird, as you spray this on your face and it comes out like a foam, and it is a bit pricey, but I will likely end up buying this again, as I love how it's helped shrink my giant pores!
6) Tom Ford Intensive Purifying Mud Mask
So this mask is technically for men... lol. This is too good for just men to use! ;) I was buying the Givenchy Power Fabric Foundation (yet another thing I need to write about!), and while buying was sharing my skin care woes with the sales rep, and she gave me a generous sample to try. Let me tell you, I am hooked! You can see the oil/dirt that is sucked out by this mask after it dries, and my skin looks amazing after I wash it off! I LOVE masks, and the idea of supercharging my skin with nutrients or drawing out icky things, but I do feel some are either ineffective or overly-drying. I really liked this one because it is right in the middle! It's so effective, but doesn't over-dry my skin! I'll likely be swallowing the high cost or asking for this for my birthday when my sample runs out!
I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I really love learning more about 'skin care' and finding products that actually do what they promise, so I really enjoyed writing this and sharing some of my favorites with you! White I was gifted two of the products I shared, I was not obligated to write about them on my blog, and my opinions, as always, were 100% honest and my own! I'd love to hear what your skin care favorites are, or if you love and use any of these! Go to town in the comment section below!
