Style Diary — Baby, It's Cold Outside

Winter Blush and Black Look

Happy Monday!  Can you believe Christmas is less than a week away? Honestly, I'd love to skip forward to the weekend and all of the fun and festivities!  But I have quite a bit of baking and wrapping to get done before then!  What fun things are you all up to until Christmas?  Have you all finished your Christmas shopping and/or started wrapping?  I started wrapping this weekend, and after going through all of the gifts we've bought, I was so excited to realize I'm only missing a few things!  Mainly for Ross's mom.  She is a pro yard-saler and can get anything you can imagine for next to nothing.  It's hard thinking of things she doesn't have and would like.  But I found something perfect for her while out this weekend, and am brainstorming hard to find a few more!

It's been cold lately, and I was definitely not ready for the 20 degrees and snow this weekend!  I am, however, ready and excited to wear the cute winter accessories and coats I've been stocking up on!  This blush/apricot/camel (it's hard to find the right word for this lovely color!) coat and black striped scarf were gifts from Rosegal and I've loved wearing them!  I'd been wanting a longer coat for winter and fell in love with how this one looked when I tried it on.  One of the pillars of French style is structured pieces.  Every time I wear something more structured, I end up loving it and how classic and sophisticated it looks!  The color is a bit darker in person, and it also comes in 2 more colors, grey and brown.  The only things I didn't like about the coat were that it doesn't have buttons or anything to close it and that the edges weren't quite as crisp and stiff as I'd prefer them to be on a coat.  I'm still not sure why open coats are such a thing, but it actually didn't bother me as I thought it would. I was freezing (literally low 30s F) the day we took these pictures and, and we were out for a while between the pictures and running errands, but the coat kept me very warm and I didn't even notice it wasn't buttoned up in the front.  And while the stitching and such may not be the high quality as I prefer, it's still good quality coat, especially for being only $40!  When you're on a tight budget, it's so important to find which pieces you can save on and which are worth the investment!

This 'x' diamond ring is definitely on the invest, not save end of the spectrum.  But it's such an amazingly beautiful and versatile ring; I've been wearing it non-stop since I received it!  It goes well with anything I wear, from casual to dressy.  It's such a great gift for yourself or a loved one that would be worn often enough to make it worth the splurge.  It's from SquareGal, a young company that is dedicated to bringing its customers beautiful, high-quality jewelry, at un-inflated prices.  Often times, buying 'real' jewelry is unreachable for many, but while their pieces are definitely an investment, they're priced much more reasonably than the same quality pieces you'd find in most department or jewelry stores.  They also strive to make their pieces versatile and time-less, so you don't look like you're wearing an engagement ring when you're wearing their rings and can wear them for years and for almost any occasion.   Their man focus is diamonds, but they also have some lovely ruby and topaz pieces!

I'm really loving how sweaters look tucked into jeans with a belt, and this turtleneck works so well for that look.  It's still available in pink, so I linked that and some similar options available in a cream/beige color.  Everything else I'm wearing is linked below!

xx,

Laurelle
