Yves Durif Salon Part 2 — Cut, Color, and Makeup Details
Happy Friday Guys! Hope you all had a great week! Sharing Part two of my experience at the Yves Durif salon, which will be all about the hair and makeup!
So for my hair, Yves gave me a blunt cut for the length, but angles around my face and a few layers for some body. Then David went in and added caramel colored highlights, painting them in (balayage) so they look more natural. I love how the highlights add dimension and brightness!
The products the team used on my hair caught my attention, as my hair had SO much volume before, and even more after styling. The products that seemed to do this were the shampoo and volumizing spray, so I picked up the volumizing spray before leaving. (I have wayyyyy too many shampoos to be spending money on them) I've used it a few times since, and I have definitely seen a high difference in volume from what I used to have before. Some is definitely the few inches cut off, but a lot is this spray. It's not cheap, but you need so little product to see results that it'll last months, and the results are so worth it.
For my makeup, Julio went very natural, highlighting the natural contours of my face. He started off using Sisley's foundation, blending it in upwards, followed by the highlight stick, which he also blended upwards. He opted to mostly use highlight on the areas the light would fall over darker tones where the shadows would fall for the contour, and it gave a more bright, youthful look to my face! For the little bit of darker contouring he did do, he used a bronzer and a blush, but just swept it straight across my cheekbones to my nose. I usually do a diagonal line down, so this was different and I definitely plan to play around with it more! He used a makeup sponge with a powder to set the makeup, and this is a trick I'm definitely going to use on days I need my makeup to stay... mine stayed like a dream that day!
Then for my eyes, he used a dark blue eyeliner, as this makes the greens and honest pop more on brown eyes; another trick I need to experiment more with! He then blended a dark blue shadow into the crease, following the contour. He went very light on my brows, following their natural shape in a medium brown, just lighter than my hair. This is also different for me, as I usually use a slighter darker tone!
Overall, I loved how youthful my makeup and face looked, while still being accentuated by the makeup in a natural way. While I love my cat-eye and brown shadows, it made me think outside the box and open to truing new things. I will definitely be trying our these techniques over the coming weeks and keep you posted on what I choose to incorporate more into my normal makeup routine!
