How to Update Your Blazer Game for the Warmer Months
Happy Friday guys! So if you follow my style at all, or if you've seen me in NYC (headed there today actually), you know I loooooove a good blazer. I wear and own SO many. I think they're so chic and polished, but can be made to look incredibly hip when paired with some unconventional choices. Especially ripped denim!
Since I love them so much, I recently invested in some that I can get a lot of wear out of during the warmer months, as a lot of the ones I had were more wintery. I shop differently for blazers for the warmer months, of course, so here are some things I keep in mind that will help you if you're stuck on how to take them into spring and summer:
How to Update Your Blazer Game for the Warmer Months
-Opt for Lighter Colors
This isn't to say you can't wear a black blazer in the warmer months, you totally can and my other tips will help you rock one, but there's nothing like picking a blazer in a spring or summer color to feel fresh and updated for the warmer seasons! I absolutely love this white one I scored in London. I only ended up paying 6 pounds for it, which just goes to show you that you don't need to drop a fortune to look luxe! I also bought this pale blue one which I'm obsessed with and has such a great cut/shape.
-Opt for 3/4 Sleeves
I love how 3/4 sleeve blazer looks. I find it ends up have a slightly more casual air, and you can show a bit more skin! Some even have a cute little button by the elbow, which is such a nice detail!
-Opt for Light Fabric
This is probably a no-brainer, but you don't need to wear something heavy in springing summer. In fact, you'll probably end up sweaty and gross if you don't. Try to go for blazers made with thin, light-weight material.
-Try wearing Prints
While plaid trended hard this fall, it's a dark, heavy print that won't look very updated for spring. Try going for a really light check or gingham print, or even go all out and opt for a floral print! The upside to a print blazer is that it's statement, so the rest of your outfit can be basics/neutrals, which means a super easy yet super chic look!
-Opt for Unique Details or Fabrics
There are so many fun takes on blazers lately, it's really made me the happiest girl! I just got a linen one with exposed stitching, and I think it's so cool! Opting for a blazer with fun details like that, especially in spring colors, can really elevate a look! You can also look for blazers made out of silk or trench material, or look for details like built-in belts, big buttons, or embroidery.
