Style Diary — Navy Off The Shoulder & Jean Skirt
Happy Wednesday Friends! Seriously, where is August going!? I can't believe that we're less than two weeks away from Labor Day/summer vacay officially ending. I don't know where summer went!
While I'm getting super excited for all things fall, I'm trying to make the most of the few weeks we have left and do/wear all the summery things. Off-the-shoulder dresses/tops and jean skirts have been all the rage the past few months, so I was so excited to put together a look that combined the two and is great for work or play! I was even more excited to use navy and black pieces together! Did anyone else grow up believing mixing dark neutrals was a big fashion faux-pas? I certainly did, along with wearing white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day, wearing all one color, and a few others. I'm so glad many of these silly 'rules' aren't followed much anymore, as most of these 'no-no's actually look great when done right. Combining black and navy included!
I've been loving wearing this little off the shoulder top, as it's such a fun and summery piece. While shopping for an OTS top, I wanted one that was different from the many I'd been seeing, and Nordstrom came through once again (it's hard to imagine I barely even knew about Nordstrom a few years back...). I love the little bow detail on the sleeves of this top! Believe it or not, it's from their juniors department. They actually have a ton of great options in it, that don't look like they're made for kids or teens at all, and everything tends to be less expensive than similar items in the women's department. I've also found some great sunglasses (including the ones I'm wearing here) and jewelry there, which I've been wearing frequently. If you're looking for an OTS top, I'd recommend checking Nordstrom; while this one sold out in navy in a flash, it's still available in pink, and I've linked some other great options below!
